The FOOD IS AMAZING! After six visits, I can honestly say that it is some of the best food I have ever eaten anywhere. The resort is just the right size! Not too big, not too small.ģ. The staff at OMR truly want you to have a wonderful vacation and will do everything they can to help make that happen!Ģ. They get to know you and remember you when you come back each year. They are the kindest, hardest-working and most caring people you would ever want to meet. The STAFF is incredible! Most of the staff we remember from our first visit in 2016 are still there. Our first visit was in the summer of 2016, so this review will largely be based on the some of the changes we have noticed since that time.Īll of the BIG THINGS are still there, and they are terrific:ġ. It has become our very favorite vacation destination over the years and we keep returning year after year. My wife and I recently returned from a 10-Day Stay at the Ocean Maya Royale, and this was our 6th return visit to this particular resort. We'll definitely return one day and that says it all. Totally unprofessional, unexpected and we had to walk away.Īll in all, Ocean Maya Royale fully deserves 5/5.

Lastly, we had a really bad experience with the Front of House lady at the Japanese restaurant regarding the booking we had made. I paid by card & didn't look at the receipt until we got back to the room, otherwise I would have only purchased the mosquito repellent which I went in for. $10/£8 for a bag of crisps (Cheetos) & $12/£10, yes a tenner, for a small bag of sour fruit sweets. If the prices were more reasonable than they'd sell more. Thirdly, on site is the most expensive shop in the world. Secondly, we felt the bars shut much earlier than expected. I love a JD at home so should be sipping them at a 5 star hotel in Riviera Maya. Firstly, the premium drinks which aren't included. The resort isn't perfect, so it's only fair I mention the negatives. It's only my favourite tipple! At this point I knew I was on holiday:-) Eduardo offered to make me a Bloody Mary on our first morning. These guys went out of their way to make us feel welcome to their country. Nearly everyone is super-friendly at OMR but special shout-outs to Eduardo & Viktor in the buffet restaurant. The excursions that we booked through both the TUI rep & the wonderful Margarita were all outstanding & value for money. The coffee shop was an unexpected treat, the lady serving is a real credit to OMR. The room was cleaned daily, the Maid's here really do work hard & do an amazing job. The food is very good in most of the restaurants, especially the main buffet & the Blue Moon. We took part & enjoyed all the activities, the best fun I've had in a long time, especially the foam party! The rooms, grounds, wildlife & beach are all fantastic. We spent 2 weeks at OMR in May & had such a memorable holiday. I would recommend this resort to those who want a calm and quite stay. This was our first visit to Mexico and we cannot wait to go back. The bartenders in the pool area and the sports lounge were by far the best staff members at the resort. The store within the hotel is overpriced so make sure you bring everything you need as the nearest convenience store is a mile away and they charge $25 to take you and bring you back. (I didn’t see anything on Expedia but I probably didn’t pay attention when booking). Same concept for the alcohol in the drinks. I’m assuming you had to pay extra to include all the restaurants but I wouldn’t know as no one approached me nor did I ask to upgrade.

I wouldn’t necessarily say it was “all inclusive” as we were limited to one, a la carte restaurant and the buffet. The food was good but the drinks were inconsistent.

The pooI/beach were full of chairs and umbrellas to lounge around but people reserved them by placing their towels and returning hours later. They played a little bit of music after the show but it was the same 10 songs every night. They had shows every night and they ended around 11:00. It’s a great resort if you want to relax and lounge around all day.
